WILLE'S FIRST PERFORMANCE AT ROHS.

Check out the video of Willie's first performance at ROHS. He looked so darn cute. The football team lost something like 64-6 BUT the band was great!

NEW MYDOL PIX ARE ON THE WAY

The Mydols may have done their CUTEST photo shoot ever yesterday. In the pouring rain, we schlepped our busy bodies out to Livonia and did a photo shoot with David Reed at Riverside Arena.

Riverside is home to the Detroit Derby Girls so we definitely were feeling some synergy.

There were around 50 little kids there skating and we had to look adorable, while weaving amongst them, and, at the same time, trying NOT to break a leg or chip a tooth. Not easy stuff.

I can't wait to see the photos!

YOUneek TV Episode 3

DANDELION CONSIGNMENT

Every once and a while I get a scoop on something new and fun to look forward too that is local. I just found out that a new children's consignment store is opening in Berkley around Labor Day. It's called Dandelion. Their tag line... because kids grow like weeds!

Here's what we moms can look forward to.

Dandelion is a children's consignment store located at 2666 Coolidge in Berkley. They'll be taking in and selling gently used - name brand items, that are quality, and worthy of reselling.

Dandelion feels it's something that's good for our local area. It helps parents save money, make money, stimulates the local economy, brings more foot traffic to Berkley, and at the same time they're a GREEN business. YAY!! They're recycling and re-using items. They have plans in the works to sell eco-friendly baby products, slings, carriers, ergo carriers, chico bags, handmade clothing made from local artists, and jewelry made by local artists--within the FIRST year. (If everything goes smoothly.)

I wish Dandelion nothing but the best in their endeavors and only wish they were around when my kids were little. I can't wait to get invited to a baby shower!

PAULA BEGOUN

Yesterday was my big TV day. I got to spend 4 hours on a sound stage at Grace and Wild Studios answering phones during a pledge drive for DPTV. It was a national feed with the Cosmetic Cop, Paula Begoun.

I really enjoyed it. First off ALL the volunteers were so sweet. It made the time go by quickly. Next I love cosmetics! I learned a LOT listening to Paula. But the real reason I got a kick out of it was seeing how real TV works and how many people are involved in the decision making process. I watched the director pick and choose who should sit next to who in the phone bank based on age, sex, clothing color etc. I watched the talent improvise their lines. It was really fun to watch the stage manager's signal the talent to look in certain cameras, wind things up--he used all kinds of hand gestures. He looked like a third base coach. We also got to watch them break down a set and put up a new one in under 20 minutes. All very impressive. I got a couple of ideas I want to try on YOUneek TV!

FOX 2 AND MOOSJAW ROCK

Yesterday morning I got to meet Jay Towers at the Moosejaw in Birmingham. He did "look lives" all morning promoting Moosejaw's "Backpack Promotion Thing" for the South Oakland Citizens for the Homeless. So far, Moosejaw has collected enough backpacks to support all the guests at SOCH. The extra backpacks will be given to other local charities that can use them. We are so excited that the efforts to help one charity will now help several. Pretty cool.

And you know, I have to say, that of all the local stations, FOX 2 is the one with it's finger on the pulse of Detroit. They cover local news the best, the coolest and the most interestingly. They're the station I watch.

SO MUCH NEWS...so little time...

It's 11:13 AM and I have been up working since 8:00 and I feel like I've accomplished NOTHING. All this social media biz takes time...too much time. But heck, it sure is FUN!

So the BIG news is today I'll be on The Story with Dick Gordon. It's a repeat of an interview I did last Spring. I am excited about it because when the story originally aired, I got a ton of email and some clients too. It was such a great thing for me.

NEXT is FOX 2 is going to cover the Earth Angel's backpack drive at Moosejaw on the FOX Weekend News on Saturday. Jay Towers is meeting me at the store and he'll be sending feeds back throughout the morning. How cool is that??

Please consider donating a gently used backpack to Moosejaw and get a whopping 20% off a totally cool new one!

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

I started working at home in February. It was a blessing in many ways. This year for the first time in SIXTEEN years I got to stay home with my kids for summer vacation. (Just in time too. Dylan will be a Junior this fall.)

While sitting on the sofa, with a beagle in my lap, designing website does wonders for my heart and soul it's, er, not so good for the rest of my body.

Yesterday, I got an announcement about a new Wii game called "Your Shape". Here's it's claim:

What makes this game not-like-the-others is that it actually contains a camera allowing players to project their own likeness within the game! So it can correct improper positioning or help tone, slim any “problem” areas. Plus there are 480 fun workouts to choose from. This game provides the luxury of having your own (virtual) personal trainer in the comfort of your home!

I checked out the website: http://www.yourshapegame.com/. I am really intrigued. It doesn't come out for a couple of months, but I can't wait to try it.

A new game for MOM. Yippee! Stay posted. I'll tell you how it workouts for me!

NEW CAR FOR DYLAN

Dylan passed his driver's test!

We're picking up this 2003 Ford Taurus with 51,671 miles this week. I don't think it was Dylan's first choice, but it's what he's used to driving. And from my perspective it's relatively safe. We test drove some smaller cars and they felt a little scary.

I'm so happy he can get himself to and from practice now and drive to school.

NAVIGATING CHANGE

I had the pleasure of doing a radio interview with Lisa Mininni, the author of "Me, Myself and Why?" You can listen to the interview in it's entirety by clicking here.

I also did a TV interview at the Community Media Network for a new show (no title for it yet). Check http://www.cmntv.org/ for programming or check back here in a couple of days.

And...the big news for the Davids family today is we got AT&T U-verse. My POOR kids have never had cable TV. Willie finally convinced us to do it and I am looking forward to watching lots of crap on the boob tube.
