STREET BEAT
The Mydols had a GREAT time in Minneapolis. The North Star Roller Girls ROCK! Thanks for treating us like real deal rock stars. I also want to thank all my family members who came out to the bout and to Laurie Lindeen who came with her son and a bunch of her neighbors, and Lori Barghini from the "Lori and Julia Show" who brought her husband. After the bout we went to the after party and hung out with the teams. We left for Detroit at 4:00 AM.
We missed our appearance here on CW 50 on Street Beat. It aired at 11:30 and we were the last segment. The band played HOT ROD YOUR HOME. I'm hoping someone taped it!
This week I'll be on WDET on Detroit Today on Thursday and the whole band will be on The Mitch Albom Show the same day.
In the meantime, my book blog tour continues. Here are some dates:

MINNESOTA FUN
Wow! What a day in Minnesota. I am here with Kara and Wensdy. We left the house (we are staying with Jason and Carissa) at around 9:00 AM and didn't get home until after midnight.
I was on Showcase Minnesota and had a great time with Rob Hudson. He is really super nice and he's a musician too, so the interview was a lot of fun. You can watch it at http://www.showcaseminnesota.com/show/client_article.aspx?storyid=508766.
From the KARE 11 studios, we all went to Target! (We love Target.) We looked for some matching Mydols' outfits for some upcoming gigs.
After that we kind of tooled around downtown Minneapolis and then hooked up with Laurie Lindeen at Monte Carlo's for lunch. Brian Setzer has an office in that building and we were all hoping for a siting. No luck.
Next we went to a studio in St. Paul to do the Lori and Julia Show. These are two sisters-in-law that have a huge talk show during the evening drive. What a hoot those two are. It's always fun when we do an interview and they play some Mydols' music in the background.
From there we met my nephew Erik and some of his law partners on the campus of the University of Minnesota at a pub called Blarney's and took in some of the second hand shops on campus.
Then it was off to uptown to Stella's for dinner with the WHOLE family--Bill, Patty, Erik, Molly, Lisa, Ted, Jason and Carissa and even Laurie Lindeen stopped by with some books (Petal Pushers) for Kara and Wensdy and a CD for me. We're going to do a booking signing in the summer together. The Mydols are going to try to cover a ZuZu's Petals song and Laurie says she'll sing with us.
We got home at around midnight. (I think--it was late anyway.)

FIFTH GRADE ROCKS!
Yesterday I went to an east side elementary school and spoke to a large group of fifth graders about writing and being in a band...mostly about being in a band! (That's what they wanted to hear the most.) I forgot how cool it is to be in school. I clearly remember 5th grade at St. Mary Magdalen. My teacher was Miss Sobak and I loved her.
Being on the east side made me very very very late to pick up Dylan. I swear he has the patience of Job. when I arrived at the high school he was just sitting in the grass waiting for me.
Last night I taped the Royal Oak Show. I was so relaxed. Carlo (the host) is just so laid back and friendly. He makes it all so easy. I am not sure when it airs--sometime in May.

WEEKEND WRAPUP
Whew! What a weekend. On Friday night I was really delighted to take part in the first Rock N Noodlz fundraiser at Kent Lake Elementary. I gave away a Daisy Rock guitar to lucky Miss Olivia K. (Mitch Ryder drew her lucky entry out of a bag.) I was in charge of musical chairs in the library.
On Saturday we spent the day celebrating Willie's photography award from the Michigan PTSA. And today I had a soccer game at 11:00 AM with the other Mydols--my women's over-30 soccer team. We tied. We had a great season. Lots of new girls on the team this year and they are AWESOME!!
From soccer I went to the Hazel Park Memorial Library where the Mydols rocked! Not one librarian said SHHHHHHH! We were kind of loud but we had a great crowd. Edward Kobucher, the City Manager even showed up. I love Hazel Park. There is no place like home.
NEWS FROM JEE YEON
Jee Yeon lived with us for a year. She attended Royal Oak High School. I write about her in my book with much love . We miss her so much!
Here's is what is new:
Here's is what is new:
Hi? This is Jee Yeon. How are you? I am pretty good.
I have something to tell you. I hope you are not too much surprised.
Now I am not in Korea. I am in China. I came here to study Chinese. I am studying in Chinese high school. It is really surprising to me, too. I have never thought about studying in Chinese high school. However, now I am.
In fabruary, My mom asked my brother whether he wants to study in China. He rejected, so I got the chance to study in China. I might graduate here and get in to a college in China. I love to study Chinese. I think I like to study language. I have a lot of friends in here. Everybody likes me. We all have fun each other.
Yesterday, one of my friend invited me and I had a lot of fun. her mom is too busy to cook, so her dad cooked all the foods, it was so good. He made eleven kinds of
foods. I am still full. Chinese eats a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Last weekend, I got the book you wrote from my mom in Korea. I read it, and your book touched me, actually you touched me. It's really moving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All of my friends are really interested in the book. They asked me how I have American family. They asked me " Are you adopted? or Are you an American?" I said no and I explained about foreigh exchange program.
Now 'Mydol' is also famous in China. They don't know much about the other hollywood star, but you. And they couldn't figure out you as a mom, because you look so young. They said you look so young and beautiful.
I am so glad to get your book and I am so proud of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tell Everybody I miss them So MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a nice day!!!!!!!!!!!
Bye~

MY FAVORITE REVIEW
My mother sent a copy of my book to a priest in Africa who is very close to our family. Father Simon wrote the following in an email to my mom:
A special sense of ‘pride’ runs down my esophagus to have acknowledged receipt with tremendous gratitude of the awesome and highly pragmatic Memoir, The Rock Star Mommy, My Life As A Rocker Mom by Judy Davids. Believe me I have fallen in love with the book. Presently I am reading it for the third straight round in just under seven days..!! It is full of inspiration but it also is a display of the author’s utter dedication and focus-ness not to mention the great humility of her inspiring that is found nearly on every page of the book and that is so admiral!

Last night I spoke at the Hazel Park Memorial library about my life, book and writing. I thought about what I was goign to say all day but I never wrote down any notes. I just winged it--speaking straight from the heart. The group that showed up was so much fun. An added bonus was that the library provided refreshments! :)
The Mydols are going to perform at the libarary on April 20 for their open house. I am really looking forward to going back--Hazel Park will always be home.

INTERVIEW WITH BEVERLY MAHONE
This morning I was on the FOX 2 Weekend Morning with Deena Centofanti talking about "Rock Star Mommy". As I was sitting on the set, I realised I am really getting comfortable in front of cameras and microphones. I was more excited to meet beautiful Deena than I was nervous to speak. (I'll be posting the video soon!)
What did make me nervous was my 10 AM soccer game. I raced from my interview to Total Soccer. We tied our game 1-1. It's almost easier to be down 5 goals than to make sure a tie doesn't became a loss. Anyhow, the team we played is in first place and was undefeated so the tie was really special.
Finally I had the great pleasure of interviewing Beverly Mahone--an author and the the master mind behind the Baby Boomer Diva Nation of which I am a proud member. Here's my interview with Beverly.
Judy: What was your inspiration for Baby Boomer Girlfriends' Weekend Getaway?
Beverly: Initially, the idea was to have a Friday or Saturday night Pajama party for women over 40. We would fellowship, dance, do some karaoke and share our menopause stories. But then a friend of mine who is the General Manager of a TV station in Daytona Beach, FL offered me the opportunity to tape a Baby Boomer Town Hall Meeting and I just couldn't pass up that deal so, with the help of my wonderful event planner Carol King, we started working on an entire weekend of activities. I've been blessed to have members of my boomer diva nation group step up and volunteer their time and talents to help make this event a success. The Daytona Chamber of Commerce has been absolutely wonderful and Daytona Beach Mayor Glenn Richey is issuing a Proclamation declaring Saturday, April 19 Boomer Diva Nation Day. To be perfectly honest, this weekend has taken on a life all its own but I believe that's the way God intended for it to be.
Judy: What has the response been like?
Beverly: The response has been incredible! It seems as though women have been waiting for an event like this. Usually, when you go to women's conferences, you have a lot of seminars and vendors and we're going to have some of that. But what makes us unique and different is we are treating this like a real Spring Break. The time has come for mature women to be able to getaway from the everyday hustle and bustle of life and throw caution to the wind. We are going to have some fun, hang out on the beach and party like it's 1979! (LOL) I can't wait to see who wins the dance and karaoke contests.
Judy: What are some of the defining characteristics of the Baby Boomer generation?
Beverly: We have lived through quite a bit: Vietnam, Kent State, Woodstock, The Civil Rights Movement, The 70s. All of these experiences have had a profound effect on who were are today and how our lives are different from our parents. We have access to more resources than any other generation before us and we have many more opportunities to do things our parents never dreamed of.
Judy: One of the proudest moments of my life was when I was accepted into the Baby Boomer Diva Hall of Fame! How many women have this honor? And how did you find them all?
Beverly: At last count, we were pushing close to 100. How did I find them? Well, let me first tell you how I got the idea. I was at a women's conference with R&B Singer Natalie Cole. We were both scheduled to speak. During the breakfast, I went up to her and asked if I could take a picture. Afterwards, I told her I was going to post it on my website as a Baby Boomer Diva and she said OK. After that, I thought it would be a neat idea to showcase other fabulous women over 40. The women selected for the Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame are all women 40 and over who I have come in contact with (virtually and in person) who are on the move and making a difference in the world. Some I found on MySpace, the Ryze Network and right in my own community. The popularity of the site has resulted in some women contacting me directly and wanting to become members. I also get referrals from fellow members.
Judy: I wish I could come down for the weekend fun, but I have another commitment. Please tell me you have another weekend lined up!
Beverly: The Baby Boomer Girlfriends Spring Break will be an annual event. I believe next year we're going to take a cruise to one of the islands so stay tuned!

ON THE AIR
Kara and I did The Warren Pierce Show this morning. We got up at the crack of dawn, scraped ice off the minivan and headed down to the golden towers of the Fisher Building. We were greeted by Rachel Nevada in the lobby.
We met Warren in the studio. He is very nice. He's really charming. He made us feel completely at ease. We were on the air for about 20 minutes. The best part of it was hearing our music on the radio! He played 3 different songs. Kara's voice sounded so good through the headphones.
We took a couple of pictures at the end in front of the WJR sign.

THE WARREN PIERCE SHOW
Tomorrow morning I'll be on The Warren Pierce Show on WJR with the Mydols' lead singer Kara. I'm looking forward to the interview. Warren is one of the best radio personalities in the business. We'll be on from 7:40 to 8:00 AM.
Today I did an interview with the C & G papers and then did a TeleSeminar with Heidi Richards which was a LOT of fun. It's the first time I've ever done such a thing. It was one of those things where a bunch of people call in and are connected by telephone and others through the Internet. I tell ya...technology today is amazing.

FAME AND FORTUNE
I'll be taking part in 1st Fridayz™ with Heidi Richards on Friday April 4th. This month’s Theme is “FAME and Fortune.”
Here is the scoop:
1st Fridayz™ - WEB 2.0 Networking for Women… Theme – “FAME AND FORTUNE” See how you can get a FREE copy of Kenneth Himmler's book Live Rich & Stay Wealthy-For Women Only
1st Fridayz™ returns this week – Friday April 4th and we have 3 exciting interviews scheduled!
They are:
10 AM Eastern Time: Kenneth Himmler, Author of Live Rich & Stay Wealthy-For Women Only
Kenneth Himmler, Sr. is a Wealth Management Coach that focuses his efforts on working with individuals that value a higher quality of life above anything else. This allows him to work primarily with people that have similar values and goals, which makes for a very mutually satisfying and long-lasting relationship.Prior to establishing his Wealth Management Firm, Ken lived on his own at a very young age in Buffalo, NY. While putting himself through school he often wondered where his next meal would come from. Through his amazing self-confidence and self-determination, he has now managed to become one of the most sought after experts in tax strategies, cash flow, and investment strategies.
Along with being the CEO of IAM Wealth Management, Ken was the radio host of a live, syndicated program called, Live Rich & Stay Wealthy for ten years. He has also authored the financial column in four of the newspapers in the Tampa Bay area. In addition he also teaches financial courses at several colleges in Florida. You can visit Ken online at Live Rich & Stay Wealthy.
12 Noon Eastern Time: Cheree Warrick - How to Grow a Six-Figure Business in 12 months or less
Cheree Warrick is recognized her peers and business partners as “The Profit Partner.” By the time she was 26, she had helped buy and sell hundreds of thousands of dollars in real estate. From that experience, Cheree joint-ventured with others to start a construction company and trash hauling company.
Cheree has not only started several companies, she has also helped her clients develop successful businesses. She helped one client earn $4500 within two weeks of hiring her and helped another client obtain three clients within three weeks of promoting his business.
2 PM Eastern Time: Judy Davids, Author of “Rock Star Mommy” and Founder of the MYDOLS Rock Group
Judy Davids was 42 when she picked up a guitar for the first time and decided to start a rock band, or make that, a “mom” rock band. Surprisingly, the one thing in her life that she didn’t consider herself to be an expert at made her famous. The Mydols, her band of four Midwestern housewives/mothers drew the attention of the national media and soon she found herself in the pages of the supermarket tabloid The Sun whilst shopping for Lunchables.
Her new book, “Rock Star Mommy” is a rallying cry for every woman who fondly recalls when she spent more time in mosh pits than “Mommy and Me” classes to adopt a rock ‘n roll attitude toward life. Based on Judy Davids’ experiences as a music fan, a mother, and the leader of one of the first “mommy” rock bands in the country, it tells the story of the Mydols’ path to success and the inspiration it gave Judy—and so many other moms—to embrace creativity and pursue their dreams. In Rock Star Mommy, Judy Davids tells her story — from using Manic Panic to dye her hair pink to donning a pair of go-go boots and hopping onstage to toting sound equipment around in her soccer mom minivan—and proves that making time to do what you love does not make you a bad parent, but a better, more fulfilled, and happier one. (Available March 25 wherever books are sold including Amazon.com)

MYDOLS ON THE RADIO IN MN
The super cool Laurie Lindeen emailed me today to say she was going to play Mydols tunes on the Lori and Julia show in Minneapolis/St. Paul. That was thrilling to read.
The Mydols will perform at the Minneapolis Convention Center at the end of the month. I am looking forward to seeing lots of family while I am there. My nieces and nephews have been so kind and generous--offering to put the band up and throwing get-togethers. Also the North Star Derby Girls have been so nice. I can't wait to meet them.
Today, I confirmed an appearance on Street Beat--a TV show on CW 50. And the C & G Newspapers called today for an interview. I also met the the good people at the Detroit Zoo to finalize details on Mamapalooza Detroit!

THE PERFECT MOTHER'S DAY GIFT
I got a cool request today from the fashion editor for the Times-Picayune, the daily newspaper in New Orleans. She does a "books" page in the monthly style and shopping guide for Mother's Day and wants to include the "Rock Star Mommy".
